My paintings echo the positive beauty around me and how we humans interact with nature and our environment. I feel very much at home near water and drawn to its life force. It inspires me to paint its many forms of movement, power and reflection in oil, pastel, charcoal and sketching in pen & wash. Although I have painted many other subjects, water and the human form are now the areas I specialise in.
Whether painting outdoors or in my studio, I respond to the effects of light, colour, drama and atmosphere of my subject. My goal is to invite a sense of wonder and exploration in each painting and instead of words I pursue the magic I see and feel, connecting the brain, eyes and heart, using the language of paint. If my artwork awakens within the viewer a connection and feeling to observe and explore a painting more, then I have achieved my goal.
Painting and sketching outdoors (en plein air) also plays an increasing role in my artistic pursuits which helps to enhance my studio work.
I am a Fellow of The Australian Guild of Realist Artists’ and an Honorary Life Member of The Pastel Society of Victoria, Australia, for my contributions to art. I feel blessed and grateful to be able to draw and paint. It has shown me a wonderful way of seeing and communicating with others in this amazing world we live in.
