I have been drawing and playing with paint from as far back as I can remember. I never planned an art career early on, so there was no formal art school. Instead I gained an Associate Diploma in Private Secretarial Practice and employment that led to roles working for Managing Directors and later as Secretary/Bursar in private schools.

I was first introduced to oil painting during the summer holidays when I was twelve but it wasn’t until early 1980, just after I was married that I began to study Classical Tonal oil painting for four years with Helga Ivanyi, who had trained under Lance McNeil. My skills since then have developed through regular practice and experimentation in pastel, acrylics, watercolour and charcoal, as well as some classes and workshops with other notable artists. I now predominately paint in oils and soft pastels.

My love for painting has taken me on many paths, from receiving top awards for my work in competitions and exhibitions, to travelling Australia, Italy and the Greek Islands teaching workshops, and giving classes and demonstrations both here in Australia and in the United States. My participation in the Melbourne artist group – Fusion6 has inspired me to lift the bar and aim for greater heights in my career, namely entering national competitions. I have been a finalist several times in national portrait prizes and won Best Works on Paper in the A.M.E. Bale Art Prize.

My style can vary a little with my choice of medium but I like to experiment with light, colour and form and try to show an alternative way of seeing our world through unique compositions. The light is what first inspires me and I want to share my vision in paint: one that is positive and focuses on the life seen all around us. I paint what inspires me, as well as commissioned works. The subjects I mostly feel drawn to paint are the human form and water, particularly reflections in water. I hope that my followers and collectors are inspired by the honesty and integrity I strive for in my work, where I also like to invite a sense of wonder and exploration.

When I’m not in my studio, I can be found painting outdoors, having stimulating art discussions with my fellow Fusion6 artists, or visiting other friends and family members. I’m in the process of developing a website artinperspective.com to inspire and help artists of all levels to further their artistic dreams. If you want to be first to hear about it, please register your interest at JOIN MY MAILING LIST at the bottom of any page.

My artwork can be found lighting up public and private collections in different corners of the world. My larger works are sold through galleries and exhibitions and have been printed in several art magazines and book publications. My smaller artworks, Little Gems are available for sale through this site.

I am a Fellow of The Australian Guild of Realist Artists’ and an Honorary Life Member of The Pastel Society of Victoria, Australia, for my contributions to art.  I feel blessed and grateful to be able to draw and paint. It has shown me a wonderful way of seeing and communicating with others in this amazing world we live in.
